First and foremost, I want you to know that I’ve got her. I’ve got your baby, she’s safe and she’ll never know anything but love and good things. Her future is full of nothing but hope now.

I wonder what you look like. I wonder how old you are. I wonder where you and your other babies sleep.

You did your best, and I know that, but life is seriously tough for you single mums on the street, having to carry your babies around with you, moving house every two weeks to keep them safe. That’s probably what you were doing when you became separated from her, disturbed and startled by the noise of humans starting their busy working days. You sacrificed Frida to save your other babies and we forgive you for that. Who could blame you?

How many babies have you brought into the world only to lose them after a few weeks? Cat biology tells us that only 25% of kittens make it to adulthood in the wild. You were “lucky”, or as lucky as you can be to be an adult stray cat living on the streets, fighting for survival, while having litter after litter. But don’t worry. Frida’s future will be different. She will break the seemingly endless cycle of pregnancy, birth, suffering, and hardship.

I just wish I could do the same for you. I wish I knew where you were. I wish I could make your life better.

We have never met and we never will, but through Little Miss Shouty Pants, we will always be connected.

You will always be loved.
